NURSERY SCHOOL (2.5 - 4)

This program caters to children who are at home but may display their need for a more structured routine. Children will develop their communication, social skills, self-help, and toileting habits. Children arrive by 9 a.m. and leave by 1 pm, with snack and lunch included (Squire Ellis Location only). Children arrive by 9 am and leave by 11:30 am, with snack included (Cottrelle location only).

TODDLER PROGRAM (18 MONTHS – 2.5 YEARS)

Toddlers may or may not have language, but they can communicate using emotions and gestures. They are curious learners who benefit from being in a group of 10 with 2 staff, Opportunity to manipulate materials using their senses (touch, sound, taste, sight, and smell) help them to explore and learn about their environment.

NURSERY SCHOOL (2.5 - 4)

Preschoolers love to run and jump. Some have fluent language whether in their native tongue or English as a second language. Some have yet to master expressing with words and articulating clear speech. The group of 16 children with 2 staff or 8 children with 1 staff cater to 24 preschoolers. Pre-kindergarten readiness is a main focus as children develop self-help, toileting, communication, social (sharing, turn-taking, peer relations) and academic (math and reading concepts, cognitive) skills.

KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM (4 – 7 YEARS)

This is a group of 12 children with 1 staff. They attend before and after school programs at the childcare center and attend school during the day. The children are viewed as capable learners who take part in planning their curriculum to build on skills already developed. Fostering and maintaining social interaction is essential at this stage. Various cognitive concepts learned at school are reinforced by assisting the children with homework and extending their experiences while at the center.

Our philosophy of care is focused on developing the whole child. We believe that child development is driven by positive experiences and stimulation that contributes to building a framework for lifelong learning. Each child is an individual with a unique pattern of interests, capabilities, and potential. Our program focuses on developing secure and self-confident children, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and physically. We believe in the dignity and value of all children.

We strive to create a supportive family atmosphere in which the program is an extension of both home and the community. Parents/Guardian, Supervisor and Staff must all work in partnership together to meet the needs of the children.

Licensed by the Ministry of Education, governed by policies enforced by the Child Care Early Years Act. Monitored by Peel Health to ensure safe and healthy practices are consistent and by the Region of Peel to support effective programming. Also an active participant of Raising the Bar in Peel, a quality initiative.

Family Atmosphere

The staff, the supervisor and the families within the center collaborate to build strong, sound relationships where care is an extension of the home and the skills developed in each child resonate throughout their life long learning experiences.

Highly Trained Staff

Staff is qualified, trained individuals who stay current with updated methods and best practice regarding curriculum, programming, and methods of delivery. Knowledge is gained through workshops, conferences, networking, and group discussions. Registered Early Childhood Educators must adhere to the standards of practice and code of ethics outlined by the College of E.C.E to develop a professional portfolio.

Curriculum & Programming

How Do Learning Happen and the Early Learning for Every Child Today are documents and current guidelines utilized in the childcare and school industry that reflect the most effective learning strategies for children. A great program is supported by relationships formed between the teacher, student, and parent. Group care is also individual care where a child is assessed, met where they are at, and assisted in developing skills and strengths pertinent to their capabilities.

Nutritious Health Meals

Meals and snacks comply with the Canada Food Guide. Meals are prepared on the premises by a cook with a Food Handlers Certificate. The supervisor is part of a Menu Planning Committee comprised of dieticians, Peel Health and other caregivers. Food restrictions and allergies are considered, and alternate meals and snacks are prepared.
